About us

Information governance should be a job for machines

We believe information governance should happen automatically, in the background - without adding to anyone's workload.

Built for built environment professionals, by built environment professionals, Hoppa is designed to handle the nuance, complexity and sheer scale of real-world assets and projects. We've lived the problem we set out to solve - and we've built the solution we wish we'd had.

Radically better. Pragmatically rooted. Built environment through-and-through.

Our Philosophy

Reduce noise, don’t add to it

We don’t want to be yet another tool your teams need to learn. Hoppa acts as connective tissue between the systems you already know and trust - aligning, enriching and governing information without disrupting established workflows. Better data, better outcomes, minimal friction.

Sweat value from existing data

80% of built assets that’ll be with us in 2050 already exist. The data describing them is one of the industry’s most underused resources. Before commissioning new surveys or creating new data, Hoppa helps teams extract more value from what they already have - a circular economy for information.

Scale expertise where it matters most

The built environment is rich in expertise but constrained by data volumes and skills shortages. Hoppa scales specialist knowledge across portfolios and programmes, allowing experts to focus on the decisions that truly need them. Helping human expertise scale to meet the true industry need.

Governance that flexes with reality

Traditional governance fixes standards first, then forces content to comply. We invert that. Hoppa starts with real content, then automatically aligns it to standards - allowing new metadata, labels and requirements to be layered in as needs evolve. Requirements-led, not mandate-driven.

Trustworthy data for responsible AI

AI is only as good as the information it’s built on. We're creating the data foundations for trustworthy, traceable and auditable AI in the built environment by signposting facts and putting data in context.

Practical AI for real-world impact

We focus on outcomes that matter: sustainability, asset longevity, better decisions, and a clear return on the carbon and energy cost of computation. Emphatically not AI for novelty’s sake.

Beyond the Common Data Environment white paper

Future Focus

Our peer-reviewed paper sets out our vision for an AI-augmented knowledge-sharing framework for the built environment.

It outlines how we could deliver tangible improvements today - reducing the manual burden of information management and improving data quality - while also preparing the sector to capitalise on emerging, information-intensive technologies such as autonomous systems and agentic AI.

Our Story

Hoppa founders

Hoppa was founded by long-term friends and collaborators Sam and Tom, who met as civil engineers delivering complex infrastructure projects across transport, manufacturing and energy. Working at the sharp end of delivery shaped how they think about information: practical, contextual, and inseparable from good decision-making.

After building deep expertise as AECO technology specialists across global organisations and startups, Sam and Tom founded Hoppa to put that thinking into practice, creating a flexible, scalable knowledge platform designed for the realities of the built environment.

As the physical world evolves, Hoppa ensures the digital asset keeps pace.

Ethics, Governance & Responsibility

We're committed to best-in-class data governance and the ethical use of AI.

Sustainability isn't a side concern, it's central to how we think about value. AI and energy use is a hot topic, but the trade-off is clear: when better, more assured decisions extend asset life and reduce unnecessary intervention, the net benefit is unquestionable.

For us, governance is about more than box-ticking.

It exists to serve business, societal and industry needs, not the other way around. Hoppa is built to return value to the industry that shaped us, and to support a built environment that is safer, smarter and more reflective of societal need.

AI will change the industry, and we're committed to making this change positive for people and planet.

That means building systems that are transparent, accountable, and designed to empower professionals - not displace them. The decisions made in construction shape society for generations, and our role in this is a responsibility we take incredibly seriously.
